7. Copacabana Fort
At the time of Colonial Brazil, from the 16th century onwards, several forts were built to protect the territory against invaders.
And, at the beginning of the 20th century, the Minister of War, Marshal Hermes da Fonseca, suggested to President Afonso Pena the construction of a new fortification in the same place chosen by the Portuguese.
The construction of the fort was carried out between 1908 and 1914. Today, the site houses permanent exhibitions and cafes.
